DT Rants

What a great game. If it were raining, it would've been a traditional game of ye olde schoole saturday softball. There was some problems sorting teams as we didn't want to do a standard ONES and TWOS. We tried birthday months, first half of the year against the second half, and ended up 11 vs 5. Gosh, there are alot of spring babies.
We tried even birthdays vs odd birthdays, and that ended up like all vs 2. Finally we tried even month of birth vs odd month of birth. And it almost evened out. The odd months being short by 1. The lineups looked quite even, but Nomah and his bf showed up in his bf's mother's car, and rather than risk getting the two lovebirds, the Odd Months decided to take Jason and The Sandman (we were under the impression that he would come soon), giving the Even Months Nomah and Yogi. This put the Odd Months at 7, and the Even Months at 9, but we figured The Sandman would show up anytime soon (he didn't and the Odd Months played the whole game 2 men down)
Even with two men down, the Odds proved their pluckiness with small ball singles-hitting. The choice of taking Jason proved fruitful as he was hitting singles and doubles all day, advancing runners. The Odd Months did take 2 9 run leads, but we could not capitalise on it and take the winning stroke with a mercy. The Even Months were fantastic though, they did not give up, even at 9 runs down. They fought and fought, bringing back the score to respectable levels. In the 6th inning, the Even Months finally took the lead, but it was not to be, as the Odd Months regained a one run lead in the 7th, and their defense held up. Last out of the game was a "Homerun" by Rickey.
Guppy was amazing. I've never seen him this good in the last 7 years I've known him.
He's finally caught up with the ball, and he was pulling like crazy. He's NEVER pulled the ball before in his life. He was making some good throws in the right field too. NO ONE took extra bases on him. I don't know what he's taking, but I want some of it. CK and Weixiong had a little batter-LFielder Duel of their own. And Weixiong finally won out with a catch deep in foul territory to put CK out. Rickey had a bad glove day, and he should get a Rant for it. I supposed he didn't get a date night on Monday, which accounted for his defensive lapse. He had ONE good hit though. A typical Rickey HR if ever there was one. He slammed the ball deep, way, way past Heidi in LF, but he only made it to 2nd when the ball came back in.
I can't wait for game 2 tomorrow.
