6 August - Revenge of Hall 5

Today was another NTU Hall 5 v. SAS showdown. The Hall 5-ites got the best of us this time.

Lineup:
SAS - P: Rickey; C: Hor Fun; 1B: Heidi; 2B: Diana; 3B: The Venezualan Jaguar; SS: DT; LF: Grandpa; CF: The Sandman; RF: Jason; Rover: Marv-elous

Hall 5: Still unfamilar with many of their names, but WeiXiong, Rabbit, Fei (traitor of the week) and a newby (San San) played for Hall 5.

Game 1:
SAS: 5
NTU: 10

Game 2 (3 innings):
SAS: 2
NTU: 3

The day was hot. There were a number of really nice plays, and all played well (except for a few hiccups). NTU scored 4 in the top of the first, and SAS had a hard time digging themselves out of the hole. By the 5th, it was tied. Then, the wheels fell off the bus. NTU would load the bases and keep getting them across. They had good team play.

Notes:
Welcome back to Marv-elous and the Sandman, who just ended rehab stints in the minors in the Great White North; The Jaguar brought the glove this week. Great plays throughout the game. Highlight was a 5-3-5 double play. On this one, the final out was the patented fake throw back to first. Guy at 3rd takes two steps. Inning over. Classic moment; Diana as camera model for DT; Without Grandpa SAS probably would have had no runs. Good day for him at the plate, He is a classic leadoff man. Right mix of bat and aggressive baserunning; Sandman had a great catch in the outfield; Horfun had some good stops at home and at 2nd (in the 2nd game); SS for NTU was making great plays also; San san was solid in RF; Don't forget: Game on Tuesday (National Day) at 10:00.

MBP: Somebody on NTU probably
Gold Glove: The Venezualan Jaguar
Best Bat: Grandpa
Play of the Day: Jaguar Fake
DY: San San backing up first on plays.
Bonehead Play of the Day: 2 choices -- WiexXiong's Homerun. At least 4 errors led to a pop-up being a homerun. Or, Horfun giving away San San.
**New Category -- DT Rant Scale. This scale is based on how much justification is their for a DT rant. Scale is from 1-10. 5 is neutral. The closer to 1 means that DT is at fault; Closer to 10 is the fault of the fielder or someone else (such as Guppy plays 1B or Rickey is CF). This week: DT Rant scale - 5 (He had some Paulie-isms [distractions], but most throws were on target. All misses at 1st were not his fault. Balanced out].
