Our Man Phil

Phil Dumatrait(pronounced "doo-MAH-tray")
Dumatrait was drafted in the first round by the Boston Red Sox in the 2000 Major League Baseball Draft.
On July 30, 2003, Boston traded Dumatrait, Tyler Pelland, and cash to the Cincinnati Reds for Scott Williamson.
Dumatrait made his Major League debut in 2007 with the Cincinnati Reds. On September 9, 2007, Dumatrait made his shortest Major League appearance, giving up four runs on five hits to the Milwaukee Brewers in the first inning (including three consecutive home runs by Rickie Weeks, J. J. Hardy, and Ryan Braun to start the game). Dumatrait surrendered the mound to pitcher Tom Shearn without recording an out.

First job: Baseball. "I didn't have a job in high school," said Dumatrait, who signed with the Boston Red Sox in July 2000 after they drafted him in the first round of that year's draft. "My dad told me if I made baseball my job (growing up), he'd take care of me."
Most painful memory: Dumatrait underwent Tommy John surgery in April 2004. "It wasn't going through it, because that was gradual," he said. "Not being able to play for a year (was the worst part)."
Funniest teammate: Nyjer Morgan.

Baseball player you'd like to meet: Having already met Griffey Jr., his childhood hero, Dumatrait said he would take any of the current Hall of Famers.
