6 January 2007 - First Game of the New Year

ONES: 1st: Generalissimo(All time)/Rube, SS: New John, LF: Rube/Generalissimo, CF: Carlos, RF: Lily

TWOS: 1st: Generalissimo/DT/H, SS: Horfun, LF: The Mick/Generalissimo, CF: H, RF: DT

Game 1: ONES 3 : TWOS 6 (7 innings)

First game of the new year and we were blessed with wonderful weather after weeks of intense rain. Our primary field was being used by the inter-hall touch rugby carnival, so we migrated to the alternate. Sadly, even with the wonderful sun shining down on us, we could not get enough numbers to start the new year off on the right foot. Rugburn was back, but ill, Sandman was around, but he'd rather go shoe shopping with Lexus, Jason and Diana are still on their honeymoon, and who knows where Indiana and Burma girl disappeared to.

With 9 follks, the Generalissimo graciously volunteered to play all time. Thanks to Rube and New John for doing some recruiting or we might've had only 7. Rube brought Carlos, an engineer from Chicago who's been here for 3 years and New John brought Lily to play. Both teams looked even when counted, but The Mick and DT's doubles up the centerfield line helped edge the TWOS to victory. The Rube was not finding the boom in his bat that day and the ONEs had a tough time replying to the onslaught.

We lost Carlos after 7 innings as he had to run off and attend a teleconference with the US, so instead of continuing the game with 8 men on the field, we decided to do some BP instead.

Hopefully we'll see the same wonderful weather next week. Better yet, with more people.
