26 August 2006 - Rube's Angels

ONES: 1B: Indiana; 2B: Diana; 3B: Rube; LF: Jason; CF: Grandpa; RF: Geok
TWOS: 1B: Rickey; 2B: Horfun; 3B: The Venezualan Jaguar; LF: Rugburn; CF: Sandman; RF: Heidi
All Time SS: DT

Game One (6 Innings - Mercy)
ONES: 11
TWOS: 22

Game Two (3 innings)
ONES: 4
TWOS: 8

We played at the alternate field due to some cricket festival on the main field. The ground was not as bad as it usually is there, but it was still rough. The first game was a see-saw affair until the sixth inning. Prior to that each team would score 2-3 per inning to pass the other. Well, in the 6th, the TWOS busted it open for a 13-run inning. In the second game, the teams switched their infields and outfields (thus, for the TWOS, Rickey, the Jaguar and Horfun played outfield). Then, in the last inning, both teams hit opposite their natural side (Thus, Sandman batted right while Diana batted left). The game was fine, but people were starting to tire.

The crew then headed to Joe's for beer. When enough had been consumed to satisfy all, we headed over to Indiana's for basketball. The teams were Rube's Angels (Rube, Heidi, Geok and Horfun [Horfun for only the first game]) against Indiana, Sandman, DT, and Rickey. Well, Rube's Angels ruled. They opened a can of whup-ass on the guys and took 4 straight games to 10. That's right, the two ladies and Rube showed mad b-ball skillz. Rickey - he of the big talk - did not bring his "J", while the other guys just couldn't get a shot to fall.

We missed out on the bowling. All were exhausted, and we went out for pizza at a hawker centre.

NOTES:
1) When we play the alternate field, the field always plays a big role. Bad bounces, rough on the running, etc. Still true; 2) Horfun got hit in the face by a tossed ball. Remarkably, it wasn't DT throwing it (twas, Rugburn); 3) When the ONES doubt the ability of the TWOS to go opposite field, Sandman goes left, Heidi goes left, and Horfun puts one down the 1B line. Back-to-back-to-back; 4) Rickey made no major screw-ups in CF; 5) Diana had a hard time catching Jason's foul balls; 6) Geok and Heidi have good moves to the hoop.

MBP: Rube (on the basketball court)
B3K: Rugburn
Gold Glove: No one on that field
Play of the day: Sandman, Heidi and Horfun on their opposite field hits
DY: Mary (for watching all this all day long)
No "J": Rickey
