DT Rants

The ball wasn't THAT hard to catch. Well, not really...
The ball was a size 1, which makes it slightly larger than a baseball and smaller than a softball. It's actually a brilliant size for our game because we play a larger field than standard softball, almost baseballesque dimensions. And since it's rubber rather thn leather, it hurts a lot less to catch barehanded. And it travels! Boy does it travel. So batters get a good 'zing' when they make contact, and fielders feel good catching it as well.
No Rants today.
it was a great game, and 61 runs is an ALL-TIME SAS record. Never in SAS history have we hit 50, much less 60. I believe we've smelt 50 a couple of times, but we've never gone over the half-century mark.

I do have ONE rant, but that's got nothing to do with softball. Rather, its about the arrival of a distinguished, honored member of the original saturday softball crowd. Martin the Contrary aka The Pink Flamingo aka Thrower of the Best Parties this side of Asia. HE lands on Sat evening, and leaves the following Sat morning! Which means he won't get to play a single game! What the hell was he thinking! Man!
